Thomas ("Tom") William Courtney (born August 17, 1933) is a former American athlete, winner of two gold medals at the 1956 Summer Olympics.

Born in Newark, New Jersey, Tom Courtney came into national prominence while a student at Fordham University, winning the 1955 NCAA 880 yd (805 m) title.

An AAU champion in 400 m at 1956 and in 880 yd (805 m) at 1957 and 1958, Courtney had a memorable duel with Derek Johnson of Great Britain in the 1956 Olympic 800 m final. Johnson took a narrow lead with 40 metres to go, but finally Courtney won by 0.13 seconds, and collapsed with exhaustion. He later wrote:

"It was a new kind of agony for me. My head was exploding, my stomach ripping and even the tips of my fingers ached. The only thing I could think was, 'If I live, I will never run again.'"
The medal ceremony had to be delayed for an hour while he and Johnson recovered. But Courtney did run again. He was the anchorman on the gold medal 4 x 400 m relay team. He also set a world record of 1:46.8 in the 880 yd (805 m) on May 24, 1957.

Courtney received a bachelor's degree from Fordham University in 1955, and since 1994, the (autographed) varsity jacket from his college track days hangs in a display case along with similar memorabilia from other great Fordham athletes, such as Vince Lombardi.

"Cal's first great half-miler who set a world record in the 880 in 1955 (1:47.5), Lon Spurrier was also a Gold Medalist in 1956 as part of the U.S. 1600 meter relay team and finished sixth in the 800 meters at the same Melbourne Games. Spurrier claimed numerous conference and national titles, including the IC4A 880 title in 1952 and the PCC 880 crown in 1953. He anchored Cal's two-mile relay team that broke the world record in 1954. Spurrier qualified for the Pan Am Games by finishing first in the Pan Am Trials with the fifth-fastest time in American history in the spring of '55. He finished second in the 800 meters and first in the 1600 relay at the Pan Am Games in Mexico City in '55. After graduation, Spurrier served as the president of the Big C Society and was a warden in the Order of the Golden Bear."

John 'Jack' William Hutchins (born 8 June 1926, Vancouver, British Columbia, died April 8, 2008, West Vancouver, British Columbia) was a Canadian middle distance runner. Hutchins was the Canadian national record holder in the 880 yards for the years 1946, 1947 and 1951 (shared with Bill Parnell), and the 440 yard Canadian and British Columbia record holder in 1951. He competed for Canada in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, England having won at the trials in the 880m and coming in 2nd in the 1500m. He competed again at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, Finland. Hutchins also competed at the British Empire Games (Commonwealth Games) in 1950 and 1954, winning the silver medal in the 880 yards in 1950.[1]

Hutchins attended the University of Oregon, where he obtained his BSc. He was coached by Bill Bowerman, co-founder of Nike and won several titles as a university track and field athlete, setting records in the mile run. He was an All-American in 1951-52, received the Jack Davies and Oregon Emerald Awards and was the AAU outstanding Canadian track and field athlete in 1952.

Hutchins continued to compete throughout his life and won numerous events in both the United States and Canada and participated in the Vancouver Sun Run in 2007, at the age of 80 with a time of 1.09.27.

His track-and-field teammates took exception to his shaggy locks, and, according to Bill Kiley, a former publicist for Landon, "Some of them held him down while another cut off his hair." Seething, Landon threw out his arm while making a toss; the damage, says Kiley, eventually cost him his scholarship, and Landon "had to do odd jobs to work his way through school."

Allan Steinfeld Development Award Winner Announced at Running USA 2012

What top U.S. training group will be the third grant recipient and be feted during the Running USA Hall of Champions Dinner and Live Auction on Sunday, January 15 in Houston?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - (January 4, 2012) - At Running USA 2012: The Industry Conference, Running USA will present the third Allan Steinfeld Development Award during the Hall of Champions Dinner and Live Auction presented by Competitor Group on Sunday, January 15 at the Hyatt Regency Houston, Texas. The annual $25,000 grant goes to a top U.S. training group.

"At our conference, we again will acknowledge and honor another deserving, successful U.S. training group with our Allan Steinfeld Development Award. Since our inception in March 1999, Running USA's mission has also included athlete development and this aptly-named award builds on that foundation," said Susan Weeks, Running USA CEO.

The development award is named after Allan Steinfeld, a long-time leader in the sport, who jump-started the U.S. distance running resurgence when as head of the New York Road Runners he allocated $20,000 seed money ($1 per U.S. entry at the 2000 New York City Marathon) for the development program Team USA Distance Running launched in November 2000 that produced training groups such as Team Running USA (two Olympic medals in 2004 and major marathon wins) and Team USA Minnesota and inspired the formation of others.

Five U.S. distance training groups applied for 2012 funding, and at its annual conference, Running USA will award $25,000 from its live and silent auction proceeds to one training group who will be represented and celebrated at the Running USA Hall of Champions dinner.

One of the following training groups will be the third recipient of the annual award: Bay Area Track Club, Club Northwest, Mammoth Track Club, TeamROGUE or ZAP Fitness.

Last year's recipient of the second Allan Steinfeld Development Award was Team USA Arizona, who will have several athletes vying for U.S. Olympic team spots in 2012 for the London Games this summer. Team USA Minnesota was the inaugural award winner.

In 2011, Team USA Arizona used part of the grant to promote and encourage good health and physical activity among children, youth and families in northern Arizona. Celebrities and Wounded Veterans Join Record Disney Marathon Weekend

19th runDisney event to include new marathon relay option and commemorative 15th anniversary half-marathon medal; weekend field to top 56,000

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - (Jan. 3, 2012) - Reality TV stars and wounded military soldiers are expected to be part of the more than 56,000 runners participating in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna this weekend.

Ethan Zohn (Survivor / Amazing Race), Jenna Morasca (Survivor / Amazing Race) and Trista and Ryan Sutter (The Bachelor) are among the celebrities entered in the weekend of events at Walt Disney World Resort. All are running in the half-marathon on Saturday along with four wounded veterans who are part of the Achilles Freedom Team, which supports disabled runners. Workout guru Tony Horton, founder of the P90X workout, will be on hand to prepare runners for their race.

The marathon weekend also features a new relay option that gives runners the opportunity to pair up and split the 26.2 mile journey through all four Disney theme parks - Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios - and receive a special Chip and Dale medal. And to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the half-marathon, all finishers will be awarded a one-of-a-kind Donald Duck half marathon medal.

The 56,000 total runners - a new Disney marathon record - includes more than 26,500 registered runners for the half-marathon, 16,500 for the marathon and 8,000 for the Family Fiesta 5K featuring the Three Caballeros - 3,000 more runners than last year.

Approximately 6,500 runners will compete in Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge which involves running the half-marathon on Saturday and the full marathon on Sunday - 39.3 miles. And about 3,000 young runners will join in the fun and participate in the Mickey Mile and Marathon Kids Fest events on Friday and Saturday.

There's also a Health and Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex Thursday - Saturday. Vendors will showcase the latest running merchandise and equipment, plus there will be seminars by leading health and fitness authorities, including marathon training expert Jeff Galloway, the official training consultant for runDisney.

ING Miami Marathon Celebrates with Unique Commemorative Medal

Celebrity artist Stephen Gamson designs one-of-a-kind medal for 10th edition; event record 25,000 entrants expected

MIAMI - (January 3, 2012) - The ING Miami Marathon and Half-Marathon® will celebrate its 10th edition on Sunday, January 29, 2012 by presenting finishers with a unique commemorative medal that weighs 8.1 ounces and comes with a ribbon designed by celebrity artist Stephen Gamson.

To get an idea of the medal's size and weight, the first ING Miami Marathon medal weighed 1.3 ounces 10 years ago. This medal is more than six times the weight.

Many of the event record 25,000 runners who will participate in the ING Miami Marathon and Half-Marathon® are collectors of the medals through the years. Miami has been known to have the one of the hottest participant medals in the running industry. Over the event's decade-long history, the medal has been innovated to include 3-D palm trees, double spinners and even the inclusion of a one-carat diamond.

A great deal of thought and design went into the commemorative medal. It features the Miami skyline and contains a series of etched words which relate to the 10-year history of the event. As in past years, the palm tree featured center of the medal spins.

"In true Miami fashion, the medal design has echoed the growth of the city and the race," said Frankie Ruiz, co-founder of the event and the creator of the spinning medals which have been awarded to Miami finishers through the years. "From diamonds to spinners, the finisher's medal transcends fame and glory."

In another unique twist, the ribbon that will accompany the medal this year was designed by celebrity artist Stephen Gamson.

Gamson's art has a unique style that is easily recognized for its bold colors, iconic symbols and mass appeal. He is collected by A-list celebrities, corporations and art enthusiasts internationally. Gamson's art was shown with Plages Magazine at the 2011 Art Basel in the Miami Beach Convention Center. He was commissioned by Prince Albert II for the 67th Monaco Grand Prix, his art was featured on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, and he also has done work in South Florida for Café Bustelo, the Sony Ericsson Open, and the City of Miami's recent Birthday celebrations.

The ribbon features runner stick figures, the event logo and stars interspersed into the design.

The event has had to order more medals this year than in any year in the past, with entries almost certain to hit the 25,000 runner milestone for the first time.

In addition to the 25,000 runners, more than 5,000 South Florida middle school students will also participate in the Run For Something Better, a 1.2 mile run from the county courthouse on Flagler Street that culminates a 15-week program designed to promote fitness to kids.

The Publix Tropical 5K, a great family event annually held the morning before the marathon, will also have approximately 3,000 runners. The race, expanded from a sellout of 2,100 runners in 2011, will start at Watson Island and end on South Beach.

Registration is $110 for the marathon and $85 for the half-marathon through January 20, 2012, when the price becomes $125 for both events.

Reston Virginia Store Receives Marine Corps Marathon Award

Potomac River Running defends title over 14 store competitors at the 36th MCM

QUANTICO, Va. - (Jan. 4, 2012) - The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) traveled to Reston, Va. on Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 11:00am to present the annual Running Store Team Award to the Potomac River Running store. Capturing a win for the second year, the Potomac River Running team beat 14 other retail teams vying for the win at the 36th MCM on Sunday, Oct. 30. The PRR Team was led by Adam Condit, 28, formerly of Ashburn Va., who completed the MCM in 2 hours, 29 minutes, 28 seconds. Condit not only put the Reston store in first place, but he placed fifth overall among 21,023 MCM finishers in 2011.

The MCM Running Store Award was presented by MCM Director Rick Nealis and mascot Miles the bulldog to PRR store owners Ray and Cathy Pugsley and Margie and Brendan Shapiro. The event was free and open to the public and was held at the Reston store location at 11911 Democracy Drive.

Fifteen retailers registered runners representing their stores located in Maryland, Washington, DC and Virginia. Team Running Store results are determined by combining the finishing times of each store's fastest three runners, including at least one runner of both genders.

PRR's winning team members are Adam Condit, who now resides in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Chris Sloane of Rockville, Md. (2:37:22) and Mary Klaff of Potomac Falls, Va. (3:39:40). Together the PRR team won with a combined time of 8:46:30.

Voted the "Best Marathon for Families" and the "Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic", the Marine Corps Marathon honors the dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize money, earning the name "The People's Marathon". facilities available.

2012 USATF Level 1 Schools

Level 1 Schools are the most comprehensive track and field training program in the nation, consisting of 21 hours of instruction focused on the events of track & field and related sport science. The course includes classroom instruction as well as hands-on training. The Level 1 program covers all events by emphasizing fundamentals, rules, safety/risk management, instructional techniques, in addition to specific event group training of endurance, sprints/hurdles, throws and jumps. Staff discounts if more than three coaches from a club or school attend.

ARIZONA TRACK AND FIELD IS FIRST ON TOP 100 LIST

On Sunday, Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star released the Top 100 sports figures of 2011 list.UA Track represented 12 of the 100 spots

TUCSON - The University of Arizona Wildcat track and field and cross country coaching staff was chosen as the No. 1 sports figure in 2011 by Greg Hansen of the Arizona Daily Star. Every year Hansen releases a list of the top 100 sports figures, and for 2011, the track and field program was represented by the entire coaching staff, two volunteer assistants, two former student-athletes and seven current student-athletes.
Director of cross country and track and field Fred Harvey, cross country head coach and associate head track and field coach James Li, jumps and combined events coach Sheldon Blockburger, throws coach Craig Carter, sprints coach Francesca Green, assistant cross country coach and distance coach Erin Dawson and director of operations Dawn Boxley were all cited as being the best sports figure for 2011. The UA women finished fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships and the men finished seventh, the first time both teams had top-10 finishes since 1989.

Junior Brigetta Barrett was fourth on the list, after winning the NCAA Championship in the high jump during the indoor and outdoor season. She also won the USA Championship, a gold medal the World University Games and she finished 10th at the World Championships.

Sophomore Lawi Lalang was chosen ninth, following his undefeated cross country season that led to a national championship and his runner-up finish in the 5,000 meters during the outdoor track season.

Junior Julie Labonté was ranked 14th, after winning the NCAA Championship in the shot put for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Labonté managed to go undefeated against collegiate competition during 2011 and also set the Canadian national record in the shot put.

Volunteer assistant Jill Camarena-Williams (Woodland HS 2000; Stanford 2004), 16th on the list, earned a bronze medal at the World Championships, becoming the first American woman to ever earn a medal in the shot put at the World Championships.

Volunteer assistant Bernard Lagat, No. 30, was the USA Championships winner in the 5K, and he was runner-up at the World Championships in that same distance.

Junior Jen Bergman (Valley Christian HS, San Jose) was 34th on the list. Bergman earned a second-place finish at the 2011 Pac-10 Outdoor Championships in the 10,000 meters and third at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. She also earned All-America status during the cross country season, finishing 26th.

Junior Nick Ross (Vista Murrieta HS, Murrieta), No. 47, was the Pac-10 high jump champion and went on to finish third at the NCAA Championships.

Former NCAA Champion Liz Patterson, No. 55, finished second in the high jump at the USA Championships.

Freshman Haley Stenquist was placed at the 65th spot. Stenquist was an Arizona state champion in the 1,600 meters and 3,200 meters at Sabino High School. At Arizona, she won the George Kyte Classic and became a consistent scorer for the women's cross country squad.

UA alumni Nick Mossberg, 76th, finished third at the USA Championships as a pole vaulter and has become a contender for the upcoming London Olympics.

Senior Stephen Sambu was 91st on the list. Sambu finished third in the 5K at the NCAA Indoor Championships and third in the 10,000-meter race at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

NEW YORK – 2011 World Outdoor Championships gold medalist Jason Richardson and Jamaica’s Dwight Thomas have been added to the list of competitors for the 50-meter hurdles at the U.S. Open Track & Field slated for January 28 at Madison Square Garden. Monday’s announcement by USA Track & Field sets up a matchup with previously announced outdoor American record holder David Oliver in a compelling competition on the Garden straightaway.

Previously announced stars committed to the U.S. Open include Dawn Harper (East St. Louis HS, IL 2002; UCLA 2006), Kellie Wells, Tiffany Ofili Porter, Jesse Williams (born in Modesto, CA Dec. 27, 1983; Broughton HS, Raleigh, NC 2002; North Carolina State 2003; USC 2006), Christian Cantwell, Adam Nelson, Ryan Whiting, Bernard Lagat, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Asafa Powell and Jenn Suhr.

The inaugural edition of the U.S. Open is the first event of USATF’s Visa Championships Series and will be held in the newly renovated Garden. The first major professional meet in the United States to kick-off the 2012 Olympic year, it will be broadcast on Sunday, January 29, from 7-9 p.m. on ESPN2.

Hurdle showdown
Richardson placed his name among the elite in the world in men’s hurdling with his gold medal at the recent World Outdoor Championships in Daegu, South Korea, and finished the 2011 season with the second fastest 110m hurdles time in the world. The 2008 NCAA Outdoor champion competing for the University of South Carolina, Richardson is a former USATF Youth Athlete of the Year and was a two-time World Youth Championships gold medalist.

Thomas is both a sprint and hurdle star for Jamaica. The 2008 Olympic 4x100m gold medalist and 2009 World Outdoor Championships 4x100m gold medalist, Thomas advanced to the 110m hurdle final in Daegu but cramped up in the race and did not finish. He ran the sixth fastest time in the world in 2011. He joins fellow Jamaican teammates Campbell-Brown and Powell at the Garden.

The meet will run in conjunction with the Run for the Dream meet in Fresno, Ca on Jan. 21, 2012. There will be a set of running and field events with 3 relays (see attached for schedule of events).
There will be nine qualifying meets held throughout California on Jan. 7 & 14, 2012 to serve as entry into the Jan. 21st meet. There will be 4 meets in Southern California, 2 meets in Northern California, 2 in Central California and 1 in the San Diego area. The entry fee at the 9 qualifying meets will be determined by the meet director at the specific location. The list of qualifying meets will be:

QUALIFYING FORMAT:

The top three (3) overall placers in each running event and each relay event at each qualifying meet and the top two (2) overall placers in all field events will be invited to run in the CA. Indoor State HS Invitational on Jan. 21st.
There also will be a performance standard for each event for the athletes who do not qualify for the meet by place. This standard will be published at a later date on DyeStatCal.com.

All athletes wishing to compete in the CA. State HS Invitational must sign up on the day of the qualifying meet (Jan. 7 & 14, 2010) and pay the entry fee at that time The cost of entering the CA. Indoor State HS Invitational is $25.

There will be a sign-up table at all 9 regional meets to sign-up athletes who would like to compete in the Jan. 21st meet. All athletes must sign-up on January 7th or 14th. There will be no late entry for the January 21st meet.
Athletes will be asked to supply their own implements at both the qualifying meet and Invitational Meet.
The top three (3) overall placers in each event at the January 21st meet will receive an award.

Peacock, Pezzullo Win Emerald Nuts Midnight Run

33rd edition draws 5,000 to kick-off 2012 in Central Park

NEW YORK - (December 31, 2011) - Two athletes training in North Carolina, Landon Peacock of Blowing Rock and Stephanie Pezzullo of Charlotte, won the 33rd Emerald Nuts Midnight Run, a four mile road race held here in Central Park at the stroke of midnight.

Peacock, 24, a former University of Wisconsin Badger who now runs for the Reebok-sponsored ZAP Fitness program, clocked 18 minutes, 35 seconds, three seconds up on Tesfaye Dube, an Ethiopian athlete who runs for the New York-based West Side Runners club. Stephen Pifer, who runs for the Nike Oregon Track Club in Eugene, finished third in 18:48.

"It was a whole lot of fun," Peacock said after running the race for the first time. He smiled and added, "It was the most interesting way I've started a year."

Pezzullo, 29, who represents Saucony, outlegged rivals Sarah Porter and Carmen Douma-Hussar in the final mile to win in 21:05, a personal best for the distance by 55 seconds. For Pezzullo it was her first Midnight Run victory; she was runner-up back in 2006.

"Awesome, awesome," Pezzullo said when she was asked how the race went. "It was just a great experience, and the crowd support was unbelievable."

Porter, who like men's winner Peacock runs for the ZAP Fitness program, crossed the finish line in 21:17 in her debut at the race. Douma-Hussar, a Canadian Olympian and former Midnight Run champion and course record holder, ran 21:26. Former Providence College standout Katie DiCamillo was fourth in 21:38.

Both Peacock and Pezzullo earned $600 each in prize money and time bonuses.

The New York Road Runners, the race founders and organizers, said about 5,000 runners took part. A nearly 20 minute fireworks display accompanied the race.

Inaugural Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10 Mile Announced by runDisney

Race debuts September 29, 2012; sixth signature runDisney event and second nighttime race at Walt Disney World; Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend shifts to early November

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - (Dec. 28, 2011) - Reviving the scarily popular Twilight Zone Tower of Terror theme, runDisney unveiled its newest race, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend, which debuts next year at Disney's Hollywood Studios theme park at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando.

The nighttime race, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29, is the reincarnation of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 13K last held in 2009. The new event has a similar race course - through the set of "Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show" and past Mickey's Sorcerer's Hat - but features runDisney's first-ever 10-mile distance that finishes, appropriately enough, near The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Runners will receive a finisher medal inspired by the Tower of Terror and then celebrate their achievement at a villainous post-race party with their family and friends, where they will enjoy live music, characters - including your favorite Disney villains - and have exclusive access to attractions like The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Star Tours and Toy Story Mania.

"The 10-mile distance has emerged in popularity as beginning runners, who are fast becoming super fans of the sport, consider it the next big challenge after a 5K or 10K," said veteran race director Jon Hughes, who will serve as race director for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror event. Nation's Top High School Athletes to Compete at Brooks PR Invitational

First and only indoor all-nighttime meet attracts track's best U.S. high schoolers

BOTHELL, Wash. - (Dec. 28, 2011) - The fastest runners in the country will compete against one another on the fastest track in the nation on the fastest day of the year. Leading running company Brooks Sports has announced that it will bring the speediest high school runners to Seattle for the second Brooks PR Invitational. Taking place on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, the invite-only event gives students the opportunity to test their speed against the best of the best and break their own personal records (PR).

Qualified athletes will sprint to the finish and crush records at Dempsey Indoors, located at the University of Washington, one of the fastest indoor tracks in the country. Participants will race against themselves and their peers in one of six events: 60m, 60m Hurdles, 400m, 800m, 1600m, and the 2 Mile. Each event will feature eight to 12 of the best high school runners nationwide.

"When creating the Brooks PR Invitational, our focus was on the athlete and creating an experience for them that is unlike anything else they will experience in their high school careers," said Jesse Williams, sports marketing manager at Brooks. "This athlete focus begins the minute the golden ticket invite arrives in their mailbox, and continues through the high energy, high speed track meet where we spotlight PR performances by turning out all the lights except for those above the track. The inaugural 2011 Brooks PR Invitational featured breakout performances and record smashing times:

Ajee Wilson (Neptune, NJ) claimed the #1 spot in the US for the mile, clocking in at 4:49.48
The top eight finishers in the Girls 2 Mile all ran faster than the previous national leader in the event. Sophomore Wesley Frazier led the way with a time of 10:17.46, just edging out runner-up Kayla Beattie at 10:17.93.
Six of the nation's number one high school times were produced: Girls 60m dash, Girls 400m, Girls Mile, Girls 2 Mile, Boys 60m and Boys 400m

Causeway Cancer Walk Teams with State Farm Melbourne Music Marathon Weekend

Set for Saturday, February 4, 2012 in downtown Melbourne, Florida

MELBOURNE, Fla. - (December 28, 2011) - Residents throughout Brevard County and Florida are encouraged to wear the color representing the cancer of your choice and come out to "Coloring the Causeway for a Cure" 3-mile walk on Saturday, February 4, 2012.

The event will take place in downtown Melbourne and allow walkers to parade to the top of the Melbourne Causeway and back to a finish in downtown Melbourne. One lane of the Melbourne Causeway will be closed to traffic and dedicated to participating walkers. The walk will utilize much of the same course traversed by runners during that morning's Florida Today 5K run.

Local real estate brokerage ITG Realty has teamed up with the State Farm Melbourne Music Marathon Weekend to host the non-competitive walk to raise funds and awareness for the American Cancer Society and the organization's signature community fundraising event, Relay for Life.

All proceeds will benefit the Brevard division for American Cancer Society. Relay for Life helps raise funding and awareness to support the fight against cancer, by providing services such as Road to Recovery, which drives patients to treatment, the Hope Lodges, and our gift closet here locally, where women can come receive wigs and prosthesis free of charge.

Brevard Relay for Life teams can raise funds for the Relay of choice. Simply by registering, $5 of each entry fee will be donated to the designated Relay event.

"After recently losing my mother at age 59 to cancer, I realized donating my time and money is a small sacrifice if it helps prevent someone else from going through the same heart break," shares the inaugural event's founder, Rusty Melle.

A passionate advocate, and Eau Gallie's Relay for Life event chair, ITG Realty's broker Rusty Melle will lace up his shoes to inspire the community to help "pave the way" for a cure.
