Donald Chorley Obituary
Donald Chorley
Feb. 24,1934-Sept. 29, 2015
Mt Shasta, California
Don grew up in several towns throughout the East Bay and spent summers in the Sierras. After meeting his wife at seminary on the east coast, they moved west where he held parishes in most of the western states. Much meditation and inspiration for his sermons and life came from running and hiking in Briones and the High Sierras. After retiring in 1999, Don hiked the entire Pacific Crest Trail and the Appalachian Trail, embracing the trail name, "Abominably Slowman". He finished his 100th marathon at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of fifty-three years, two brothers, a cousin, his four children, three grandchildren, one great grandson, & many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Martinez on October 18th at 2pm.
