SAC ST. WOMEN FOURTH, MEN SEVENTH AT INTER REGION JAMBOREE

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Rachel Mitchell and Lauren Mugnaini finished fourth and seventh, respectively, to help the Sacramento State women to a fourth place finish at the Inter Region Jamboree on Friday morning at Haggin Oaks Golf Course. Reesey Byers crossed the line in sixth place to pace the Hornet men.

Mitchell and Mugnaini were among the top finishers for the second consecutive meet after placing fifth and sixth at the Stanford Invitational. Mitchell ran 16:49 while Mugnaini posted a time of 16:58. Kelsey Santisteban of Cal ran away from the field to win the race by 13 seconds with a time of 16:23.

Behind Mitchell and Muganini, Sacramento State received a 24th place finish from Chloe Berlioux (17:28) and a 27th place showing from Veronica Stinnett (17:32). Stephanie Rasmussen ran 17:43 to place 41st and complete the top five finishers for the Hornets.

UCLA edged Cal Poly to win the women's team title. The Bruins tallied 77 points to finish one point ahead of the Mustangs. UC Davis was third with 88 and Sacramento State scored 102 to place fourth. Calfiornia and Oregon State completed the top five by scoring 145 points each.

The men took the course first and posted fast times across the 8K course. Byers ran 23:47 to finish sixth and was just 19 seconds off the winning time of Saint Mary's Rajpaul Pannu. Daniel Mitchell finished second among Hornets in the field, placing 47th overall in 24:56. Drew Azevedo ran 25:10 to place 60th and was followed four seconds later by Domenic D'Acquisto, who finished 62nd. The final counter towards the team total came from Cole Younger who ran 25:43 and finished in 87th place.

UCLA won the team title with 54 points. The Bruins were followed by Cal Poly (67), UC Santa Barbara (86), UC Davis (111) and California (123) in the top five. Pannu pulled away with just about a mile remaining to win the race by two seconds. Sean Davidson of Cal Poly was second in 23:30.
