Garry Bjorklund

Mike Fanelli added a new photo.
The June 1976 Olympic Trials were Eugene's second...in the 10,000 meters, after being clipped by another competitor from behind, Garry's shoe came off...with 11 long laps still to go!
Undaunted, Mr Bjorklund continued ever onward...after 9 one-shoed laps behind him and 2 more remaining, BJ was in 4th place some 30 yards behind the great Boston Billy...determined to make the Olympic squad, he ground away at Rodgers' advantage, eventually nipping him right at the line and thereby earning a USA uniform along with a plane ticket to Montreal, Quebec.
Crazy? Yup...but just another epic OT moment...you cannot possibly make this stuff up!
