Sean Bernstein is a Volunteer Assistant Coach at San Jose State

Sean Bernstein joined the San José State University track and field coaching staff in 2014 as a volunteer assistant. He will be focusing his time with the sprinters and jumpers. Bernstein comes to the Spartans after serving as the cross country and track and field coaching intern at SUNY Oneonta during the 2013-14 season. In his first coaching position, the 2013 Red Dragons' women's cross country program qualified for the NCAA Division III Championships for the first time in school history. The track and field teams combined to earn six All-America honors at the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The 2013 graduate of SUNY Oneonta is one of the University's most accomplished athletes. Bernstein won the 200-meter dash at the 2012 and 2013 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. His winning times of 20.80 in 2012 and 20.81 in 2013 are among the top five victorious championship marks in meet history. The seven-time All-American also ran the second leg on SUNY Oneonta's NCAA champion 4x100 meter relay team in 2013. Bernstein is pursuing a master's degree in journalism and mass communication at San José State.
