Track & Field Announces Five Newcomers

BOSTON – Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Robyne Johnson announced that five athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to join the Boston University men’s and women’s track & field programs for the 2016-17 season. The men’s team will add two distance runners while the women’s team will add three newcomers. Two of those three will compete in distance events while the third will compete in jumps and the heptathlon.
“This class brings a wealth of talents to BU in their respective events and we see them having an immediate impact at the Patriot League Championships and beyond,” Johnson said. “We are extremely proud to have them as Terriers.”
Brett Davidson (Highland Park, Illinois • Distance)
Davidson has improved through his first three seasons at Highland Park High School, culminating in a 2015 that saw him earn a medal at the state championships as well as a conference title in the 3,200m run. In cross country, Davidson is a three-time all-conference selection and also earned all-state honors in 2015 thanks to a 14th-place performance at the state championship.
Abby Gugel (Jordan, New York • Distance)
Gugel has been terrific in both cross country and track & field through her time at Jordan-Elbridge High School. In 2015, she was named The Citizen’s Runner of the Year after earning all-league, all-state and all-CNY honors in cross country. She finished third in the 3,000m run at the state championships and was a section champion in four different track events. Over her career, she has earned four all-state honors in cross country.
Gillian Morrison (Parkland, Florida • Heptathlon, Jumps)
Morrison is a standout at Stoneman Douglas High School, where she has medaled six times at the Florida state championships over her last two seasons. In 2015 she was named a New Balance All-American in the heptathlon and also finished third in the heptathlon at the USATF Junior Olympics. She holds school records in the high jump, long jump, triple jump, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles and 4x400m relay.
Gregory Pelose (Haddonfield, New Jersey • Distance)
Pelose had an outstanding 2015 season at Haddonfield Memorial High School, winning a state title in the 1,600m run and helping Haddonfield claim state championships in both indoor and outdoor track & field. He was a 2015 all-conference honoree for both outdoor track and cross country, and Pelose has been a part of three state champions in the 4x800m relay.
Ally Schlosser (Parsippany, New Jersey • Distance)
Schlosser has been outstanding in her cross country career at Parsippany High School, earning first-team all-conference honors in each of her four seasons. She was the conference champion in 2014 and also earned all-country honors in 2015. On the track, Schlosser is a four-time conference champion and also a four-time section champion. In 2015, she won three section titles during the spring track season.
