NEW YORK - The best local runners in the New York metropolitan area will take on the
top professional runners in the world at the 2015 United Airlines NYC Half on Sunday, March 15, 2015, it was announced by Mary Wittenberg, president and CEO of New York Road Runners. Top-tier New York residents include 2016 U.S. Olympic Trials qualifier Brendan Martin of Smithtown, 2014 Hartford Half-Marathon champion Megan Hogan of Manhattan, and 2012 Hartford Marathon champion Abiyot Endale of the Bronx.

"The tremendous talent and experience of our top local elites has created one of the most competitive road-racing circuits in the country," said Wittenberg. "Brendan, Megan, Abiyot, and all of our runners from the five boroughs and surrounding area are the pride of NYRR. Their passion for training and competing on the streets and in the parks of New York is unmatched, and we look forward to seeing them compete against a world-class field on their home turf at the 2015 United Airlines NYC Half"

Many of these runners are from local New York City running clubs, including the New York Athletic Club, the Westchester Track Club, West Side Runners, and Central Park Track Club - New Balance. These clubs' runners participate in many NYRR races throughout the year and are a significant asset to the local running community.

LLOYD HARBOR, NY - The 2015 USATF 50K Road Championships staged in Caumsett Historica l State Park saw cold temps and snow but champions prevailed on Sunday, March 1.

Up in the front of the men's pack, 2013 US Mountain Team member,
Zachary Ornelas, 23, of Ann Arbor, Mich., was pushing the pace with clear intent of breaking the course record set by
Ethan Coffey, last year's 50K national road champion.
Ornelas held the lead from start to finish, breaking the course record in 2 hours, 52 minutes, 16 seconds.

On the ladies side, defending champion and course record holder, Emily Harrison, 29, Flagstaff, Ariz., battled with
Sarah Bard, 30, Somerville, Mass., throughout the race, with the lead changing numerous times.  Bard won the title in 3:23:28.

SARASOTA, Fla. - Embracing a diverse range of participants from all walks of life, backgounds and ages, the 10 th First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon and Relay proves that with a sound training program and a will to try, anyone can take on the challenge of a half marathon or two-person relay.

Record participation of nearly 5,000 demonstrates how half marathon races have evolved from hard-core runner-specific races to community-based events appealing to people of all fitness levels.

The reasons and motivations for participating in the First Watch Sarasota Half Marathon are many and varied, from the beautiful scenery and finisher's medal, enjoying a family/friends weekend vacation, celebrating a milestone or running in memory of someone, to improving mental and physical health, trying to set a personal record, training for Boston, being a role model or, as many runners wrote, "to prove someone wrong."
