NEW YORK -- Cal State L.A.'s women's track and field team had its best performances of the indoor season this weekend at the Armory Track Invitational.

The highlight of the meet came Friday evening when the distance medley relay team of Alyssa Selve, Trey Orchard,Josefine Malmborg and Arielle Steimer-Barragan posted an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. The Golden Eagle team finished second in its heat and ninth overall with a time of 12:07.18. That's the fastest time in that event for the Golden Eagles since a 12:00.73 mark at the Husky Invitational on Feb. 8, 2013.

The mark is below the provisional qualifying mark of 12:10.84. The automatic mark is 11:36.28.

"The best part of running on a relay is going out there and hurting for one another," Selve said. "We may have hit a provisional, but we are all so hungry for more!"

"The DMR was amazing," Steimer-Barragan said. "We all had great performances. It was all heart, all team. We ran for Cal State L.A. - black and gold every day!"

Another highlight of the two-day meet was an 18-3 mark in the long jump by Chantiel Harden. That's the best indoor long jump of Harden's Cal State L.A. career. It was just shy of the provisional qualifying standard of 18-3.25.

Cal State L.A.'s 4x400 relay team of Raquel Rochon, Ashley Craddock, T'Icis Fernandes and Kiyana Williams posted a time of 4:10.58.

Trey Orchard ran well on Friday in the 400, finishing 22nd overall with a time of 58.82. Harden and Craddock both posted times of 8.06 in the 60 meters.

On Saturday, Selve was 10th in the mile with a time of 5:05.86 and Craddock had a time of 26.56 in the 200.
."The Armory always does a fantastic job with creating a great competitive atmosphere," Cal State L.A. head coach Tina Fernandes said. "It was awesome hearing the announcer shout that California State Los Angeles was in the position to win (in the distance medley heat). "Our highlights were Chantiel almost posting a provisional mark and the DMR earning a strong regional mark. We are still in our early stages of development with some of our women competing for the first time on an indoor track. We will definitely get better with each competition.

Cal State L.A. will return to action on Friday, Feb. 13 at the Northern Arizona Invitational.
