Golf courses and pavement don’t cut it for this Alaska native. For Allison, an ideal run takes her along a winding, root-studded trail, preferably at Walnut Creek where she can wade through river crossings and bound over fallen trees. Such obstacles offer excellent training for this steeplechaser. Jumping and climbing come easily for Allison. "Cedar Bourgeious is my hero,” Allison says. “She has won this huge mountain race called Mount Marathon for a long time, battling it out against Olympic athletes while she manages her own small business and takes care of her two kids.” Allison is a junior at Claremont McKenna, where she studies history.
