Thomas Set For U.S.A. Marathon Championships


(Colorado Springs, CO) - Wendy Thomas (adidas/BRC) will be competing in her second marathon at Sunday's U.S.A. Marathon Championships to be hosted by Twin Cities In Motion and the Medtronics Twin Cities Marathon. Thomas, who debuted at the distance at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials with an impressive 12th-place finish, sought to improve upon her 2:34:25 at last year's INC New York City Marathon before that race was canceled.


Thomas has returned to form recently finishing 5th at the U.S. 20k Championships as well as winning the America's Finest City Half Marathon in the last two months. She will be vying for her first U.S. national title as well as $145,000 in prize money including $25,000 for first place. The marathon championship is a part of the USA Running Circuit in which Thomas currently sits in 17th-place. With the marathon awarding double points for the series, Thomas could move up as high as third.

Tapia To Compete In San Jose Half Marathon


(Colorado Springs, CO) - Daniel Tapia (Mizuno/SRA) will compete in the San Jose Half Marathon on Sunday as preparation for the upcoming Amsterdam Marathon. Tapia, who represented Team USA at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in the marathon where he finished 27th, has a half marathon best of 1:04:23 and a marathon best of 2:14:30.
