Saucony Run For Good Awards Grant Winners Announced

LEXINGTON, Mass. - Global performance running footwear and apparel brand Saucony
and the Saucony Run for Good Foundation, established to help combat childhood obesity by providing financial support to community-based youth running programs, has announced its latest round of grant winners. This comes as the problem of childhood obesity is at last showing signs of turning the corner, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Since 2006, the Saucony Run For Good Foundation has awarded over $1 million dollars to schools and community organizations all dedicated to preventing childhood obesity through running and an active lifestyle. Even as signs of progress in the childhood obesity fight emerge, Saucony continues to challenge runners everywhere to join the cause by logging miles on the Saucony Run4Good App.

Saucony is inviting the running community to help double the brand's donations to the most recent selected grant recipients by logging miles run or walked on Saucony Run4Good™, the running industry's first-ever app dedicated to battling childhood obesity. Over the next six months (September 2013 through February 2014), the selected grant recipients will each be a monthly feature on the app. When a predetermined community mileage goal is reached during the recipient's featured month, Saucony will double its contribution to the selected organization.

Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon Sells Out In Record Time

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The 34th
Nationwide Children's Hospital Columbus Marathon & Half Marathon

has sold every last spot in the race for the seventh consecutive year.

A field of 18,000 athletes will compete Sunday, October 20, 2013. This is the fastest the marathon has ever sold all its space.

Darris Blackford, Race Director, says having Nationwide Children's Hospital serve as a primary beneficiary helped drive participation, along with the marathon's growing national reputation as a fast and fun course.

Blackford said 7,000 participants will compete in the full marathon, and 11,000 will take part in the half-marathon. He said anyone can get involved to support Nationwide Children's Hospital through the Children's Champions program.

Running USA's Allan Steinfeld Development Award Application Window Opens

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - (October 6, 2013) - Running USA, the national industry non-profit organization, has

opened the application window for its annual Allan Steinfeld Development

Award, a $25,000 training group grant. The winning team will be announced and feted at Running USA 2014:
The 11th Industry Conference during the
Hall of Champions Dinner

on Monday, February 10 at the Marriott Marquis & Marina in San Diego, California.

"One of the highlights of our annual conference is presenting the Allan Steinfeld Development Award to a worthy U.S. training group," said
Kevin Callahan, Running USA President. "Although it is always a tough decision with many deserving teams, this grant fulfills our mission and Allan's vision to support and promote U.S. distance runners and to help nurture future Olympians."

At Running USA 2010, the inaugural development award was announced and named after Allan Steinfeld, a long-time
leader in the sport, who jump-started the U.S. distance running resurgence when as head of the New York Road Runners he allocated $20,000 seed money ($1 per U.S. entry at the 2000 New York City Marathon) for the development program Team USA Distance Running launched in November 2000 that produced top training groups such as Team Running USA (two Olympic medals in 2004 and major marathon wins) and inspired the formation of others.

In February 2010, Team USA Minnesota was selected as the inaugural award winner; in February 2011, Team USA Arizona, the second recipient of the award; in January 2012, Mammoth Track Club, the third recipient, and in February 2013, ZAP Fitness (left, MarathonFoto), the fourth team.
