Moncton is a Canadian city located in Westmorland County in southeastern New Brunswick. Situated in the Petitcodiac River Valley, it lies at the geographic centre of the Maritime Provinces. The city has gained the nickname "Hub City" because of its central location and also because Moncton has historically been the railway and land transportation hub for the Maritimes.

Derrick Atkins (born 5 January 1984) is a Jamaican born Bahamian sprinter.[1] Atkins specializes in the 100 metres event and also holds the national record, with a time of 9.91 seconds. He is the second cousin of, former world record holder, Asafa Powell.[2] Atkins was a 3 time National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national champion in the 100 meter dash while attending Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota. He helped lead those DSU track teams to back-to-back national team titles.

Bryan Barnett (born 10 February 1987) is a Canadian sprinter who specializes in the 200 metres.
He was born in Edmonton. He won the silver medal at the 2006 World Junior Championships, and also competed at the 2007 World Championships and 2008 Olympic Games without reaching the final.[1] At the 2007 Pan American Games he won a silver medal in the 4 x 100 metres relay, together with teammates Richard Adu-Bobie, Anson Henry and Jared Connaughton.

Reggie Witherspoon (born May 31, 1985 in Pasadena, California)birth name Reginald Witherspoon; is an American sprinter. He competed for University of Florida and later Baylor University. He was part of the USA's gold-medal winning team in the men's 4x400m relay at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, after running in the heats. Witherspoon also held the Indoor National High School Record at 400m, which was held by the great William Reed, with his time of 46.11 seconds at the 2003 National Scholastic Indoor Championships in New York.

Virgil Hodge (born 17 November 1983) is a female sprinter from Saint Kitts and Nevis who specializes in the 200 metres. She was born in Basseterre.[1]

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing she competed at the 100 metres sprint. In her first round heat she placed fourth behind Muna Lee, Anita Pistone and Guzel Khubbieva, normally causing elimination. However her time of 11.48 was among the ten fastest losing times, which was enough to advance to the second round. There she failed to qualify for the semi finals as her time of 11.45 was the fourth time of her heat.[1]

She is a graduate of Texas Christian University where she was a top performer on the track and field team.

Carol Rodríguez (born 26 December 1985 in Pomona, California) is a Puerto Rican sprinter. Her mother was African American from New Orleans, her father grew up in Yauco, Puerto Rico.[1]

She competed in both 200 and 400 metres at the 2008 Olympic Games, but without reaching the final round.[2]

She has 22.23 seconds in the 200 meters, achieved in May 2006 in Provo; 51.39 seconds in the 400 meters, achieved in June 2008 in Des Moines; 11.28 seconds in the 100 meters, achieved in May 2009 in New York City; and 7.56 seconds in the 60 metres, achieved in January 2006 in Pullman.[2]

Rodríguez grew up in Southern California, attending Western High School in Anaheim, California for her first 3 years. At the 2003 CIF California State Meet, she finished third in the 100 metres behind Allyson Felix and Shalonda Solomon as a junior, but did not make it back to the meet her senior year after she transferred to Long Beach Wilson High School.[3]

She next went to the University of Southern California majoring in Sociology. At the 2006 NCAA Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships she finished third in the 100m, fourth in the 200m and anchored USC's third place [4x100 metres relay]] team. The relay team repeated their third place in 2007, while Rodriguez finished fourth in the 100m.[4] She holds the USC school record in the 200m (surpassing World Champion Inger Miller) and 400m.[5]
