Washington launches anti-PED effort

2003 world champion 400m runner Tyree Washington has launched a new Web site, www.killaroid.com, aimed at educating young people about the dangers of performance-enhancing drug use. The site also offers Washington's services for mentoring and steroid intervention workshops.

"Tyree's passion is to educate the world about the deadly effects of steroids," the Web site reads, "and to demonstrate how he is a prime example of victory and success through hard work and discipline."

Washington last year was awarded the gold medal from the 2003 World Championships 400 meters. He had originally finished second behind doping cheat Jerome Young. USATF CEO Doug Logan presented the gold medal to Washington at the USA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Washington also had been a victim of his relay teammates having used performance-enhancing drugs. As a result, he returned to the IAAF his 4x400m relay gold medals from the 2003 World Indoor and World Outdoor Championships and the 1997 World Outdoor Championships.
