Freshman Year: Won the UNC Challenge in his first action as a Tar Heel • Top three finisher in team standings all season • Finished 15th at the NCAA Southeast Regional to earn all-region honors and narrowly missing a bid to the NCAA Championships.


Prior to UNC: Attended UCLA during the 2007-08 academic year • Earned a varsity letter in cross country •Named the UCLA Freshman Cross Country Runner of the Year.


Prep: Attended Jesuit High School in Carmichael, Calif. • Four-year varsity performer in cross country and track • Earned sub-section and section titles as a sophomore and helped lead team to team championship and seventh at Nike Team Nationals • Finished fifth in the state as a junior en route to leading the team to the state title and a fourth place finish at the Nike Team Nationals • Finished sixth individually at the 2006 Nike Team Nationals • Three-time outstanding runner of the year at Jesuit • Honor roll student every semester in high school.
