Sophia Stone Earns Cross Country All-Region Honors

NEW ORLEANS - Junior All-American Sophia Stone earned All-Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association after winning the South/Southeast Regional Championships on Saturday at the Nash Farm Battlefield.

Stone, who repeated as champion, completed the 6K course in 22:03.69 and again qualifies for the National Championships held this Saturday at the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Earlier this year, the Junior from Pacific Palisades, CA won the USA South Conference Championships while setting a new course record and was named USA South Runner of the Year. She earned both of these honors in 2011 as well.

Stone's fastest time came in October when she won the Gettysburg Invitational. She completed the 6K course in 21:48.
